Frequently Asked Questions

  • Executive coaching is a process and on-going relationship in which an experienced professional works one-on-one with an executive, business owner, leader or a group of executives (client) to help them improve their leadership skills, performance, and personal and professional development.

  • Virtually anyone with a challenging career can benefit from Executive Coaching. However, Shine Executive Coaching focuses on entrepreneurs, founders and business owners (decision makers) looking to advance personally and professionally, problem solve, create self awareness, address blind spots and self-limiting beliefs, build confidence, receive situational guidance or become a better leader.

  • The goal of executive coaching is to help business owners, leaders and executives to identify and overcome their weaknesses, develop new skills, and enhance their strengths.

Executive coaching can be beneficial for both individual executives and organizations as a whole. It can help executives become more effective leaders, improve their decision-making skills, and increase their job satisfaction and engagement. It can also improve the overall performance of the organization by enhancing the skills and capabilities of its leaders.

Coaching uses a process of dialogue and questioning to build the client’s level of awareness and insight. The trusted relationship can provide the client purpose, feedback and accountability.

The coach serves as a trusted advisor and mentor who supports the executive or leader in developing strategies to solve his/her problems.

  • Executive coaches use a variety of tools and techniques to help executives achieve their goals. These include assessments, feedback, evaluations, observations, interviews, goal setting, and action planning. They may also provide guidance on communication skills, team building, decision making, and other areas that are critical for effective leadership.

  • Shannon is intimately aware of the frustrations/challenges and pure joy/exhilaration that come with the full process of business leadership—from starting a business or new venture to finishing successfully.

As an entrepreneur, Shannon has had the great privilege of growing businesses for more than 25 years. Her most recent transaction was as a franchisor of the brand Just Between Friends Franchise System, Inc that sold in December 2022. Her role as CEO and Co-founder for the previous 20 years has uniquely positioned her to be on the front lines with so many new business owners—both in her own brand and those of other businesses. Shannon has mentored dozens of small business owners and leaders at all levels over the course of her career and has helped them reach greater potential.

Shannon currently participates in coaching herself and is involved with multiple peer groups. She is a regular panel speaker at conferences and events, a regular podcast guest and has served on three boards, both for profit and non profit. This has allowed her endless opportunities to hear organizational challenges from business owners both large and small which has given her the opportunity to continue her own learning while becoming familiar with a variety of business challenges and solutions.

  • It gives Shannon great joy to share tools, tips and tactics to help others scale their business and avoid some of the pitfalls that she experienced in her own businesses, saving time while providing focus and accountability to the individuals with whom she interacts.

Most of her past experience has been with small to midsize companies, specifically founders and entrepreneurs. Shannon’s work in the franchising sector has given her access to others who are looking to franchise (franchisor) or are franchisees in various models.

  • Companies hire coaches to advance the leadership capabilities of their executives. Specifically, coaches are used to enhance career development, retain high-potential employees, address performance issues and support leadership transitions. Coaching is an often necessary investment in the future of the client’s skills and the capacity at which they can advance the vision of the company.

Executive coaching and leadership development open companies, executives, and leaders up to the opportunity for advancing their leadership performance, increasing their profits, and improving their productivity and effectiveness. Companies who hire executive coaches are fostering a legacy of leaders.

  • Depending on the package chosen, we expect most coaching engagements to last a minimum of six months. However, Shannon has been using her own business coach for five years. Long term relationships can be very powerful, although this is not meant to be a lifetime commitment. Each person’s coaching needs are varied depending on where they fall in the life cycle of the business. Our goal will be to work together to find the proper cadence of meetings and communication to achieve the goals of the client. We do not currently have hard and fast rules on how that needs to look.

  • 1. 30 minute clarity call

Set up a free 30 minute clarity call with Shannon by clicking HERE. Because Shannon wants to make sure she can provide value to you and your current work/life situation, she will spend 30 minutes with prospective clients understanding challenges and opportunities in the prospective client’s business/role or life where she can be of assistance.

    2. Decision time

Both SHINE and prospective client will weigh the decision whether or not to engage in a coaching relationship.

While there is no time limit to the decision making process, please note that Shannon limits the number of clients with which she works so this needs to be a consideration. Her goal is to serve her client’s well so she will pay special attention to over-commitment.

    3. Set up meeting intervals based on needs

Once the decision has been made to engage in a coaching relationship, a regular cadence of meetings will be set up based on the client’s needs, budget and availability. Every coaching engagement is 100% virtual, which means you can save time and money and meet from anywhere in the world.

  • For clients who have an immediate need that requires swift action, Shine Executive Coaching can discuss a package that will fit the clients needs.

  • We believe that by investing in yourself you will be a stronger, more confident leader and will be able to see progress over time toward your aspirations and goals. We believe this so much that we offer a money-back guarantee.

    Monthly Coaching

    • 2 hours per month $1000 (one hour every other week)

    • 3 hours per month $1350 (1.5 hours two times per month)

  • After every session, we will rate our time together on a scale of 1-10. If the ranking of the meeting is less than 9-10, we will discuss what we could have done better for the next meeting.  The goal of our time together will be stated up front and we will both be responsible for keeping the meeting on track toward our goals. If for any reason it is felt that no value was obtained from our time together, we will refund for the session time. This is our guarantee.
